Ed Sheeran performs for PBS taping of Austin City Limits

Austin City Limits continues its 40th Anniversary celebration with a television taping of singer/songwriterEd Sheeran. Appearing on stage with only a couple of guitars, his voice and a recording device called a ‘Looper’ which enables short sections of material to be repeated to create ostinato patterns, this global phenomenon blends a unique mix of soul, hip-hop, folk and rap to make a unique genre all on his own.

Sheeran is a 23-year old British artist whose international hit singles “The A Team” and “Lego House” have earned him numerous awards. Although most of his lyrics are admittedly “depressing and songs you want to eat ice cream to,” they are honest and raw.

His set list (below) included old and yet to be released hits from his upcoming album X (pronounced multiply), which is one of the most anticipated this year.

Sheeran added a couple of songs as he went along and before heading off to Detroit, ended the Austin City Limits taping with an exciting rendition of “Sing” which left the audience singing long after he had already left the building. His concert was an absolutely outstanding and thrilling addition to the Austin City Limits tapings and had everyone in the audience up on their feet singing and dancing.
