Infected Rain, Rains Down on Dallas

The forecast may not have called for it, but the rain came down hard in Dallas when the Moldovan metal band Infected Rain hit the stage at The Granada Theater on November 3.

Just a few days ago there was a possibility of the tour not even happening due to guitarist Vidick Ojog and drummer Eugen Voluta experiencing difficulties with their visas. There were a few of the early shows that were canceled, however thankfully the issue was resolved, and the band was able to get back on stage.

If you have not had the chance to see Infected Rain live, it’s a show you don’t want to miss. Lena Scissorhands voice can punch you to the ground with her brutal growl and a verse later she can pick you up with a saintly melodic high note. She walks across the stage with authority and owns it. Lena grabs the attention of the crowd with her lethal stare and fiery dreads burning through the air with each thrashing beat from drummer Eugen.

Guitarist, Vidick, rips the stage with intensity that most musicians would not be able to keep up with. To watch him thrash about the stage and maintain such rapid and tight metal riffs is a site to behold.

Don’t let the beauty of the band’s newest member, bassist Alice Lane, fool you. According to one fan Martin Davila, “she’s a fucking beast.” For a band that’s carried five members for years and performs with four is a testament to the full sound and musicianship Alice brings to the band.

Drummer, Eugen, may be in the back but the force of his drumming brings him straight to the front with the rest of the band. His rhythm and flawless timing with the other members led the crowd to jump and mosh in perfect synchronization with the brutal, hard, and heavy sounds of the band.

Infected Rain is only a few dates into their latest tour so be sure to check them out when they hit your town.

I don’t think I have ever seen a band more appreciative of the fans than Infected Rain. Multiple times throughout the show, Lena graciously thanked the fans for coming out and spending the evening listening and watching them perform. You’ve got to love it when an artist gives respect and appreciation to their fans.

Lastly, apologies to drummer Eugen for not being able to get a live shot.

I found my passion for photography back in 1986 while taking a high school photojournalism class. After shooting a few local bands and seeing the images after I developed the film and printed the images I knew I was hooked. Since that time I’ve had the honor of photographing national acts, politicians, celebrities and the NBA. I now mainly focus on high school sports, concerts and senior portraits.
