Wizard World enjoyed its eighth trip to the Austin Convention Center at Wizard World Comic Con Austin, November 17-19. Wizard World Comic Con events bring together thousands of fans of all ages to celebrate the best in pop culture: movies, television, gaming, live entertainment, comics, sci-fi, graphic novels, toys, original art, collectibles, contests and more. The comic con and pop culture extravaganza featured celebrity appearances, non-stop live entertainment, gaming, exclusive Q&A sessions with top celebrities, movie screenings hosted by stars and directors and more, all hosted by media personality Kato Kaelin.
Wizard World Comic Con Austin is also the place for cosplay, with fans young and old showing off their best costumes throughout the event. Fans dressed as every imaginable character – and some never before dreamed – roamed the convention floor and participated in the famed Wizard World Costume Contest on Saturday evening.
Celebrities who appeared included Jason Momoa, Kate Beckinsale, Val Kilmer, the “Firefly” trio of Summer Glau, Jewel Staite and Sean Maher, Michael Rooker and Nichelle Nichols (“Star Trek”) headlined the roster of celebrity guests. Other notables who appeared included the Clerks and Mallrats duo of Jason Mewes and Brian O’Halloran, Felicia Day, the “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” pair of Charisma Carpenter and Emma Caulfield, Holly Marie Combs, Jon Heder, Dean Cain, Steve Blum, the “WKRP in Cincinnati” tandem of Loni Anderson and Howard Hesseman, Michael Cudlitz, “The Walking Dead” duo of Austin Amelio and Xander Berkeley, Joe Flanigan, Jason David Frank, the “Batman: The Animated Series” duo of Kevin Conroy and Loren Lester and Thomas Ian Nicholas.
Wizard World also included creative comics artists and writers in Artist Alley, including Jorge Molina, Katy Farina and Rian Sygh, Shawn Coss, Steve Geiger, Stuart Sayger, Phil Ortiz, Tom Cook, Mark Kistler, Clinton Hobart, Genese Davis, Victor Dandridge, Dr. Travis Langley and many others.
