Local non-for-profit organization, Austin Smiles, hosted the Austin Smiles Benefit Concert which featuredVince Gill at Austin Music Hall on February 28th, 2014. Vince Gill’s passion for charity and Austin Smileswas a huge success and an unforgettable night for all guests lucky to be in attendance.
First taking stage was Houston’s own Robert Frith, who performed from 8-9pm. Frith combines stylish blues licks, funky guitar rifs, pop lyrics, and a true Texas roadhouse flavor. Following his performance, a short video was presented which showcased the amazing works of Austin Smiles, The Austin Plastic Surgery Foundation. This 501(c)3 non-profit organization provides reconstructive plastic surgery, primarily cleft lip and palate repairs, to the children of central Texas and in various locations in Latin America. Their passion has made it possible to perform more than 150 reconstructive plastic surgeries annually. Through their efforts, our community’s children have been given the gift of a smile.
Vince Gill, one of the most popular singers in modern country music, came on at 9pm and performed all of his fans’ favorite hits in an intimate acoustic show. Gill is comfortable sharing funny stories and although theAustin Music Hall is a large venue, it truly felt like he was performing in your living room.
Kendyl Richards, Austin Smiles Executive Director, worked tirelessly to make this benefit a success and was thankful for the support of this organization. “We will more than likely never have this opportunity again, and we thank Vince Gill for his generosity and for supporting our organization,” …“The funds raised by this concert will go directly to our mission—providing surgery to children born with cleft lip and palate and providing the medical supplies and programming needed for our cause.“
