Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival 2024 returned to Manchester, Tennessee, from June 13-16 with a lineup and atmosphere that once again proved why it remains a must-attend event on the festival calendar. Set against the backdrop of the iconic “Bonnaroo Farm,” this year’s festival delivered four days of diverse music, surprise collaborations, and unforgettable moments that had festival-goers buzzing with excitement.
The lineup was as eclectic as ever, featuring headliners like Red Hot Chili Peppers, Post Malone, and Fred again.., each bringing their unique flair to the stage. Thursday kicked off with an electric set from Pretty Lights, who returned to the stage with his signature light show and hypnotic beats, marking the first time the main stage was headlined on opening night. The night continued with high-energy performances from BigXthaPlug, Michigander, and the always-theatrical Gwar, making for an unpredictable start to the weekend.
Friday’s lineup featured a genre-defying mix of artists, with Post Malone delivering a headlining emotional and exhilarating performance. With hits like “Circles” and “Rockstar,” he had the crowd singing along and dancing late into the night. Maggie Rogers and Khruangbin brought their unique styles to the festival. Rogers’ indie-pop anthems and Khruangbin’s psychedelic grooves provide perfect summer night vibes. Other notable performances included a captivating set by Thundercat, who wowed with his virtuosic bass playing, and an energetic show from T-Pain, who reminded everyone why he remains a fan favorite.
Saturday brought another wave of standout performances, with the Red Hot Chili Peppers delivering a headlining set that spanned their decades-long career. Their setlist included classics like “Californication” and “Under the Bridge,” as well as newer material that showed they still have plenty of creative fire. Melanie Martinez added a touch of theatricality with a set that was as visually striking as it was sonically rich. At the same time, Brittany Howard’s powerhouse vocals brought soulful intensity to the afternoon. The day was capped off with a unique “Once More With Feeling(s) – The Dashboard Confessional Emo SuperJam,” a nostalgic throwback featuring surprise guest appearances and many emotional sing-alongs.
Sunday closed out the festival with diverse acts, from the introspective folk-rock of Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit to the genre-bending beats of Fred again.., who delivered his only U.S. festival performance of 2024. Megan Thee Stallion brought her dynamic charisma to the main stage, delivering a set filled with hits like “Savage” and “Thot Shit” that had the crowd on their feet. Carly Rae Jepsen brought her infectious pop energy to the afternoon. At the same time, Joey Bada$$ and Ashnikko added a dose of hip-hop flair to the final day.
Beyond the music, Bonnaroo 2024 was about the experience. From the sunrise sets to the food trucks and art installations, the festival once again created a unique atmosphere that blended creativity, community, and the spirit of adventure. The “Where In The Woods” stage provided a magical escape, with its late-night sets becoming a favorite spot for festival-goers looking to keep the party going. But what truly stood out was the festival’s commitment to sustainability, evident in its eco-friendly initiatives and efforts to reduce waste throughout the grounds, instilling a sense of responsibility and care for the environment in every attendee.
Overall, Bonnaroo 2024 delivered everything fans have come to expect: incredible music, unexpected collaborations, and a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere that makes every attendee feel like part of the Bonnaroo family. It’s a new world, but Bonnaroo is still the magical, over-the-top farm festival experience that music lovers crave.
