Carnaval in Austin is one of the biggest Brazilian carnaval celebrations outside Brazil – samba, costumes and wild abandon!~
Carnaval Brasilerio 2014 marks the 10th anniversary of Austin Samba’s participation in this astounding event.
In celebration, they chose “Orfeu” as their theme, or enredo, and modeled the show around the groundbreaking movie “Orfeu Negro.”
Carnaval adopted “Aquarela Brasileira” for samba this year. As Tio Jacaré says, it is “widely held to be the most beautiful samba of all time. In addition to being beautiful, it tells the story of the diversity and beauty of Brazil.”
Thus, this year’s show combined “Orfeu Negro” with “Aquarela Brasileira,” and will be filled with familiar characters from the movie.
