The Harlem Globetrotters Bring Dazzling Show to Austin!

On Friday, February 1, 2019, the world-famous Harlem Globetrotters gave a show-stopping display of talent and kindness at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin, TX. They faced longtime rivals The Washington Generals.

The Harlem Globetrotters have entertained generations around the world for over 90 years. In that time, they’ve performed for over 148 million people in 123 countries. When one encounters a Harlem Globetrotters game, it’s more than a simple basketball game. The Harlem Globetrotters experience holds the hope of an institution that allows people to believe in themselves. In the 1980s the first woman to play professional basketball game with women. There are  6 women on the team’s roster which include: Brianna “Hoops” Green, Hannah “Mighty” Mortimer, Cherelle “Torch” George and Fatima “TNT” Lister. “TNT” showed her amazing ball handling skills at the Frank Erwin Center on Friday night. She had recently returned from having a sweet bundle of joy. It gives people the opportunity to reach beyond their highest potential. Some of the guys that showcased their talents Friday night included: Latif “Jet” Rivers, A.J.  “Money” Merriweather, and so many others with nicknames like “Moose” and “Ant. All of Globetrotters are superstars.

The team participates in philanthropic pursuits as well. They are Ambassadors of Goodwill and have worked with the American Red Cross, visited the troops overseas, and even offered free tickets to those negatively impacted by the government shut down.

Anyone who has experienced The Harlem Globetrotters knows it’s more than a game. There were amazing displays of athleticism, theatrics, and a love of the game. Every single person on the court at the Frank Erwin shined with an inner light. The Globetrotters act as if they have the best job in the world and maybe they do.

2019 will showcase their Fan Powered Tour. With it comes time for fans and Globetrotters to be more interactive on and off the court. There’s an interactive app for the Globetrotters. Fans will want to take advantage of the Magic Pass. It costs $15 and takes place before the game. This will give them the chance to meet different players as well as learn tricks, get autographs, and take photos with various team members. Austinites took advantage of this and the court was flooded with eager participants Friday night ready to meet various Globetrotters and members of The Washington Generals team.

If you missed this spectacular spectacle. The world-famous Harlem Globetrotters will return to the Austin area as part of their Fan Powered Tour. On February 18, 2019, they’ll be sure to dazzle crowds at the H-E-B Cedar Park Center. It is perfect for a night of family-friendly entertainment.
