Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real and Particle Kid at ACL Live at the Moody Theater, December 29, 2017

Brothers Lukas and Micah Nelson brought their respective acts to the Austin City Limits Live at the Moody Theater for the first of a three-night run opening for their famous father during his traditional New Year’s Eve appearance.
Performing under the experimental musical identity of Particle Kid, Micah opened on solo acoustic with a short set of “Folk-a-delic Forest-Funk Space-Punk Avant-Pop Psych-Rock Dope-Scapes,” One by one, additional musicians appeared until the entire Promise of the Real joined him on stage to finish the set before launching into a set of their own.
Donning a mad hatter-sized top hat, Lukas led the band through his brand of hard rocking Americana blues, heavy on the guitar solos. The music is held together with pure vocals that at times recalled those of dear old dad, yet had a resonance and style that was all Lukas.
