San Antonio, TX – Theatrical Metal media darlings, In This Moment, lit up the Vibes Event Center Saturday night with a haunting night of their most powerful anthems. The show came together following the cancellation of the Houston Open Air Festival when In This Moment brought fellow tour-mates Of Mice & Men and Avatar to the Event Center with them. The genius of In This Moment is the operatic nature of their current set. The band is able to highlight lead singer Maria Brink’s natural show-womanship and constantly feature her in new and different stage setups and costumes from song to song. The setlist featured a more occult themed rotation from their current album release, Ritual, and their 2012 release, Blood. This lended itself to a more haunting atmosphere with new hits such as Black Wedding, Burn, and River Of Fire enthralling audiences Saturday Night. If there is one criticism to be levied at the setlist, it is the lack of industrial laced songs that appeared on their album Black Widow, like Big Bad Wolf and Sex Metal Barbie that gave the set some element of tongue-and-cheek levity. Otherwise, like Alice Cooper before them, the band found the perfect blend of Heavy Metal and Vaudeville aesthetics and brought the production to a rousing conclusion with the encore of their hit song, Whore.
