Nonny de la Peña, visionary storyteller widely known as the ‘Godmother of VR,’ founder of Emblematic Group and New America Fellow, delivered the Convergence Keynote, on Tuesday, March 13, 2018. Entitled “Reaching for Truth: Unlocking the Power of Human Creativity for Storytelling in Virtual and Augmented Reality,” she delivered her thoughts for using virtual reality tools for storytelling and providing journalism and documentary experiences.
de la Peña continues to redefine the standard for how human creativity and technology can work together to create engaging narratives and life-changing experiences. She will discuss her personal journey developing best practices for storytelling in virtual and augmented reality and her focus on human kindness in this powerful medium. Citing lessons learned while evolving technology solutions within the industry, she’ll share her work as a member of the Knight Foundation and Aspen Institute Commission on Trust, Media, and Democracy. Additionally, she’ll reveal the power of ‘Reach,’ a new platform Emblematic is building on Mozilla’s A-Frame WebVR technology, which will provide an open door for content authorship, empowering new voices to tell their own stories in the medium.
