ACL Fest Late Night Show – The Historic Scoot Inn, Austin, TX

As part of the ACL Festival takeover of Austin, last Sunday the Historic Scoot Inn played host to the Indie Pop group Misterwives as part of the after-show series.  With a packed house eagerly awaiting their arrival, the band wasted no time upon taking the stage and began with “The End.” From there it was a supercharged, high-impact extravaganza of pop hits like “whywhywhy” and “Machine” that invited the audience to kick up some dust dancing.

It should come as no surprise that the strength of the band is in the dynamic range and charismatic performance of lead singer, Mandy Lee. Even with her diamond clear register in the high octaves, she remains a vibrant frontwoman and even enthralled the crowd with personal reflections in between songs. As a treat, the band worked in a cover of Lizzo’s “Truth Hurts” that had everyone in the front rows singing along.  Misterwives encore presentation of “Our Own House” erupted in cheers bringing a close to a very special night.
