Grammy Award-winning, multi-platinum artists Ricky Martin and Enrique Iglesias took the stage Saturday night, November 6, 2021, at the AT&T Center in San Antonio. The Co-Headlining tour had originally been slated for Spring of 2020 before everything came to a screeching halt in March of 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Opening the evening was Columbian singer Sebastián Yatra who immediately had the fans their feet dancing, swaying, and singing to the music. Yatra took advantage of the large stage and walkout ramps, hyping up the crowd with gyrating dance moves and a variety of hits. The reaction was so fervent that it was hard to believe that he was only the opening act.

Enrique Iglesias followed with a fun and amazingly energetic set. With a huge catalog of hits at his disposal, Iglesias mixed it up in both English and Spanish, alternating between dance bangers and crooning ballads. The fans ate it up, basking in the full experience of Enrique’s music. Iglesias let it be known that he was happy to be back on stage, laughing, running, jumping, and riding his walkout-ramp conveyor belt while he teased the crowd. And if that wasn’t enough, he assured that his set left a major impression with pyrotechnics, smoke plumes, colorful lasers, a wall of sparks, and “ei” emblazoned balloons dropping from the ceiling. Enrique was here to party and left it all on the stage, much to the happiness of the crowd.

Ricky Martin closed the night by opening with “Livin’ La Vida Loca,” arguably one of his biggest hits. Compared to Iglesias’ stage setup, Martin’s was toned way down. Yet for whatever might have been lacking in the visual presentation, he more than made up with raw choreography and pure charisma. Martin had the crowd on its feet throughout, as they chanted “Ricky!” and danced along with the Latin heartthrob.

He mixed things up a bit by interspersing some amazing performances. Whether they were synchronized drumming or various forms of Latin dance, these interludes were top-shelf and provided Martin and his backup dancers time to change costumes before blasting through another round of certifiable hits.

When it was over, the crowd was still screaming for more, yet few looked truly disappointed. Like the artists, the admiring masses gave their all. It was a night of escape and celebration. A welcome respite from the events of the last year and a half.
