When it comes to making Christmas memories, Texas country icon Robert Earl Keen tells the tale of a particular Christmas that inspired one of his most popular songs, “Merry Christmas from the Family.” On Friday, December 20, 2013, Robert Earl Keen, along with The Front Porch Boys (His band), made a tour stop at Austin’s ACL-Live making the music as wonderful as the songs. The intimate setting of ACL-Live suited his performance and his style perfectly, a very intimate setting allowing for what felt like a personal experience.
Robert Earl Keen was funny, engaging, and sounded great. His set list was a great mix of old and new songs, and fans look up to him as one of Texas’s most popular and consistently acclaimed musical ambassadors. He speaks to the crowd throughout the evening and Keen’s dry humor, baritone voice and onstage demeanor made for a perfect night of holiday cheer and celebration.
