On Thursday August 29, 2014, Austin‘s Paramount Theatre hosted the ‘School Of Rock‘ 10-Year reunion‘ which was presented by The Austin Film Society (AFS) and Cirrus Logic.
Arriving in a Gibson tour bus, Director Richard Linklater, star Jack Black, writer/co-star Mike White, co-star Miranda Cosgrove and the young cast members who made up the movie’s ‘The School of Rock’ band all came to Austin for a red carpet reception, an anniversary screening and Q&A, followed by rockin’ VIP After Party at the Gibson Austin Showroom with an exclusive reunion performance by the band!
Despite the fact that a decade has passed since the original release of Richard Linklater’s hilarious and beloved ‘School Of Rock,’ its exuberant spirit resonates with first time viewers today as much as it did back in 2003. Jack Black, who plays Dewey Finn in the film, said today on the red carpet that he really connected with the role because his love of music and rock-n-roll is genuine and real.
Although the purpose of this particular event was to celebrate the film’s 10-year anniversary, fans have often asked if the possibility of a sequel might be in the cards one day. When asked again today, writer Mike White answered ‘hopefully, one day.’
