Black Heart Saints
at the Dirty Dog Bar

Another Austin, TX band, Black Heart Saints are dangerous & dirty, with a distinct groove steeped in classic rock, yet with a modern edge. Quickly conquering some of the biggest stages and festivals in the United States, Black Heart Saints has built an impressive resume and has been recognized as one of the nation’s top emerging rock acts. The soaring vocals of front-man Josh Ross have drawn comparisons to Myles Kennedy and Chris Cornell, which allows the band to give fans exactly what they want – rock-god vocals catapulted over explosive, memorable riffs that leaves the audience yearning for more.

After debuting at SXSW in 2014, this powerhouse quartet has been building a solid reputation as a support act for national touring bands such as Slash featuring Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators, Sevendust, Pop Evil, Nonpoint, Coheed and Cambria, Filter, POD, The Toadies, and more. The band is influenced by Mötley Crüe, Guns ‘N Roses, and other legendary Hard Rock acts, but the commanding presence of their live show brandishes an updated take on the genre.

Patty Griffin
on the Lady Bird Lake Stage

Grammy award winner Patty Griffin is an American treasure. Griffin closed out the last of three free South by Southwest shows at Auditorium Shores along side. Lady Bird Lake. The singer-songwriter and musician is known for her stripped-down songwriting style in the folk music genre. Her songs have been covered by numerous musicians, including Emmylou Harris, Ellis Paul, Rory Block, Dave Hause, Sugarland, and the Dixie Chicks. In 2007, Griffin received the Artist of the Year award from the Americana Music Association, and her album Children Running Through won the award for Best Album.

Griffin headlined a four-hour show that also featured sets from Andrew Bird, Courtney Marie Andrews, and  William Tyler. Throngs of SXSW attendees and locals alike relaxed on the lawn to take in the dulcet tones of Griffin’s music. Her latest self-titled album was released last week.
