Fifty years after first igniting the rock world, Triumph proved in Irving, Texas, on May 20, 2026, that their music still carries the same fire, energy, and musicianship that made them arena legends. The Rock & Roll Machine Reloaded tour delivered not only a celebration of the band’s legendary catalog but also a powerful reminder of why Triumph’s music continues to resonate with generations of fans.

From the opening moments, the crowd inside the venue erupted as founding members Rik Emmett and Gil Moore took the stage alongside guitarist Phil X, drummer and keyboardist Brent Fritz, and bassist Todd Kerns. While Triumph has traditionally been known as a three-piece powerhouse, the addition of Phil X, Todd Kerns, and Brent Fritz created a massive, layered sound that gave the songs even greater depth and intensity without sacrificing the spirit of the originals.

Original Triumph bassist Mike Levine was not present for the Irving performance, though the band acknowledged that he would appear at select future shows. Even in his absence, Levine’s influence was felt throughout the night. The band took time to recognize and honor his enormous contribution to Triumph’s legacy, earning loud cheers and appreciation from the Texas crowd.

Visually, the production was every bit as impressive as the music itself. Massive LED video screens behind the band displayed stunning graphics and cinematic visuals that perfectly complemented the songs. Whether it was the futuristic imagery accompanying “Allied Forces” or the dramatic lighting and visuals during “Spellbound” and “Never Surrender,” the presentation elevated the entire experience into something far beyond a standard nostalgia tour.

The setlist was packed with fan favorites from Triumph’s extensive catalog. Classics like “Lay It on the Line,” “Magic Power,” “Fight the Good Fight,” and “Hold On” reminded the audience just how many timeless rock anthems the band has created over the decades. Every song felt like a shared memory between the band and the fans, many of whom sang every lyric word for word.

One of the undeniable highlights of the evening came during a blistering performance of Rocky Mountain Way, sung by Gil Moore. The song became a showcase moment for every musician on stage. Midway through the performance, Brent Fritz unleashed a thunderous drum solo that could literally be felt in the chest of every audience member. The pounding rhythms shook the building and drove the crowd into a frenzy.

Todd Kerns followed with a perfectly crafted bass solo that locked seamlessly into the groove while adding its own aggressive flair. Then came Phil X, who was introduced to roaring applause before launching into an absolutely insane guitar solo filled with speed, precision, and pure rock-and-roll attitude. Throughout the arena, fans instinctively broke into air guitar as Phil X tore through the performance with electrifying energy.

Just when it seemed the song could not climb any higher, Rik Emmett stepped forward and closed the performance with his iconic guitar solo from the original 1977 recording, delivering it with the same passion and technical brilliance that helped establish him as one of rock’s most respected guitarists.

The evening also benefited from a strong opening set by April Wine, whose classic rock staples perfectly warmed up the crowd for the celebration that followed. By the time Triumph hit the stage, the audience was more than ready to experience five decades of unforgettable rock and roll.

The Rock & Roll Machine Reloaded tour is not simply a tribute to Triumph’s past. It is a revitalized, high-powered celebration of the music, musicianship, and legacy that continue to define the band fifty years later. In Irving, Triumph showed that classic rock is still very much alive — loud, emotional, technically brilliant, and capable of bringing generations together for one unforgettable night.
