Monday, November 12th, at the historic Scout Bar in Houston where several Heavy Metal and Hard Rock icons have brought many a feverous crowd to madness, Unearth took over and reigned down brutality. A crowd hungry for thunderous heavy metal gathered around the stage as the lights dimmed at the end of the night as a single spotlight hit drummer Nick Pierce who clashed out the opening of Incinerate, the newest track off the upcoming album, Extinction(s). Unearth masterfully conducted their fans, dishing out fist-pumping anthems such as This Lying World, Watch It Burn, and My Will Be Done. The audience in turn erupted into mosh pits and crowd surfers, taking every opportunity to lose their minds in the most savage way possible. Not nearly enough can be said about the melodic core of Ken Susi and Buz McGrath’s guitar work, being able to make the sweeping licks of Zombie Autopilot and punishing riffs of Dark Hearts Now Reign dance off the fretboards. At the grand finale the band closed out the chaos of the night on their classic hit, The Great Dividers, sending Houston metalheads home ecstatic.
