Last Saturday, August 25, the last major concert for summer 2018 hit Central Texas when Wiz Khalifa and Rae Sremmurd lit up the Austin360 Amphitheater. The two titans of modern Hip Hop packed out the house and lit up Austin’s premier live music destination with an incredible night of Rap.

Rae Sremmurd, the duo made up of rappers Swae Lee and Slim Jxmmi, took the stage first with an elaborate stage setup that screamed summertime bliss. Between inflatable palm trees, lawn chairs, pyrotechnics, and, strangely, an armored truck, the band was ready to close out the final moments of summer in style. Rapping through jams like “No Flex Zone,” “Throw Sum Mo,” and “Powerglide,” the audience was electrified during their set.

Closing out the evening was Wiz Khalifa who started by entering through a large gate with the initials DzWKdz while smoking. Wiz has an unprecedented stage presence that rivals the best in the Rap game and wasted no time getting a crowd jumping with his newest hit track, “King.” A large portion of his set was devoted to his latest album – Rolling Papers 2 – featuring new crowd-pleasers like “Goin Hard,” “Hot Now,” and “Real Rich.” His crowd was insatiable, soaking up every beat, every rhyme and all the energy Wiz could throw at them. Dancing, bumping, or even smoking, Wiz was the conductor to a good time for this Austin crowd. At the end of the night, he closed out an immense concert with the song “Gin & Drugs.”
