A few years back, knowing that I have a love for music, I was sent a video by my uncle Johnny. It was of three little, talented sisters playing a cover of Metallica’s Enter Sandman in a small basement studio in Monterrey, Mexico. Today, those three young ladies have grown up and are now on tour in support of their EP Mayday.

On Friday, May 20, 2022, The Warning which includes Daniela “Dany” on vocals and guitar, Paulina “Pau” on drums and vocals and bassist Alejandra “Ale” made a stop in Dallas, TX to perform live at The Studio at the Factory.

Immediately as the lights went out the packed crowd began chanting “Olé, Olé, Olé, Olé WARNING. WARNING” as if they were getting ready for an International soccer match. As the chants continued, Pau and Ale thunderously worked their way into the first song of the set Z of off their 2021 EP MAYDAY. The energy that these three sisters possessed fed into the crowd that consisted of all ages from kinds under the age of ten all the way up to adults in their 50’s. Just as they finished their first song the WARNING chants again ensued as they led into their next song Animosity then Choke.

A few weeks back they released their new single Money and as Dany belted out the first “hey” of the song, the crowd raised their hands in the air and joined in and sang along. They continued to sing along and in unison they all loudly sang the pre-chorus “…going once. Going twice. SOLD!” The deafening crowd was definitely its worth in gold to The Warning as Dany continuously showed her gratitude to the audience. In 2018 they released the album Queen of the Murder Scene and performed the next three songs Dust to Dust, Dull Knives and Red Hands Never Fade off the album.

As the stage lights dim, red beams shine down on Ale as she drives into the bass intro of Disciple followed by Pau’s thunderous snare and Dany’s gripping guitar riff. They followed with Narcisista and then the song that catapulted the band into stardom Enter Sandman by Metallica. Their performance of the song has come a long way from 2017 and truly showcases their talents and ability to make a song their own without losing the integrity of the song itself.

In true fashion of The Warning fans the crowd again continued with their Warning chants as Pau stood and leaned over her drums to start singing Survive off their 2017 album XXI Century Blood. Their performance of the song was full of high energy and Pau’s drumming through the last minute was pure adrenalized, perfection. The Warning finished off their set with When I’m Alone, Martirio and the hard and heavy Evolve. The audience had been involved throughout the entire night, however, as The Warning got to the bridge of the song crowd were jumping up and down with their hands raised to the ceiling.

Although The Warning is made up of three young sisters, their energy and performance was hands down far better than so many bands with more tenure. Some may think that just because they’re young ladies that they may not be worth listening to or watching; but trust me when I say that this band and their music deserves to be heard by everyone who enjoys great rock music with melodies that will have you wanting more.

I found my passion for photography back in 1986 while taking a high school photojournalism class. After shooting a few local bands and seeing the images after I developed the film and printed the images I knew I was hooked. Since that time I’ve had the honor of photographing national acts, politicians, celebrities and the NBA. I now mainly focus on high school sports, concerts and senior portraits.
