All ATX Presents: Back to the Armadillo at Auditorium Shores, Austin, TX, October 29, 2017
Review and Photography by Stan Martin

Back To The Armadillo is the biggest celebration of Austin Music Benefitting Austin musicians and celebrating the music of the “Armadillo World Headquarters”. Music History in Austin TX started with the “Armadillo World Headquarters” in 1970. For many musicians, it was the first large stage where they played their music to an audience of Hippies and Rednecks alike. Very different from the small beer joints and dives scattered around central Texas.

The names of some of these artists range from Willie Nelson to Frank Zappa and many more names we all know today. Some still performing around here and some passed on.

About The Author

Stan Martin

I have always loved photography. As a kid, I always had some type of cheap film camera. When I graduated High School, my dad gave me my first professional 35mm camera with a couple of lenses, an auto winder, and a flash. I was drawn to landscapes and colorful cloud formations at first, but, Years later, I was introduced to Drag Racing, Cars, Boats, and Harleys and still cant get enough of being just feet away from these monsters of speed and trying capture a jaw dropping photo at over 300MPH!
After moving Austin, the “Live Music Capital of the World” my attention turned to live music. I am a musician myself and have become great friends with lots of these artists around Austin, I taught myself to photograph bands in several of the local bars with terrible lighting and tiny stages. My frustration at first, inspired me to learn more about the camera, what settings and techniques work and don’t work. I also do Real Estate photography, weddings, events, sports, etc.
